Finding Scriptures to fight depression is the best way to defeat the negative thoughts, and the lies you may be believing. Scripture will encourage your heart, and enable you to speak truth to yourself in those hard times.

Here are  30 encouraging Scriptures to fight depression:

Deuteronomy 31:8  –  And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Deuteronomy 33:27  –  The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.   

II Samuel 22:29  –  For thou art my lamp, O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness.  

Psalm 31:24  –  Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Psalm 3:3  –  But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.  

Psalm 9:9  –  The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

Psalm 27:14  –  Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 34:18  –  The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 

Psalm 40:1-3  –  I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Psalm 42:11  –  Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Psalm 55:22  –  Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Psalm 34:17  –  The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Psalm 61:2  –  From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.         

Psalm 62:8  –  Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Psalm 94:19  –  In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

Psalm 143:7-8  –  Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. 

Psalm 145:14  –  The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.

Psalm 147:3  –  He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.  

Isaiah  35:10  –  And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.  

Isaiah 41:10  –  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isaiah 41:13  –  For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

 Matthew 6:34  –  Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is  the evil thereof. 

John 16:33  –  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Romans 8:26  –  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Romans 12 :12  –  Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;  

Romans 15:13  –  Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

I Corinthians 10:13  –  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

II Corinthians 1:3,4  –  Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

James 4:8  –  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.  

I Peter 5:7  –  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
